Truth is the Foundation
Truth (noun) – that which is true or in accordance with fact, reality, or the actual state of a matter.
I have often thought about how different our time is from the generations before us.
In our present day, never has so much knowledge been available, and with it, so much witness to the truth of Scripture, and yet never has truth been so easily dismissed.
But knowledge has not increased alone. Just as Daniel wrote, we now have access not only to information in an instant, but to real-world discoveries that have come to light only in the last century: inscriptions, tablets, manuscripts, ruins, and archaeological findings that continue to affirm the reliability of the biblical record. Our generation has been given more light, more access, and more witness than any before it, as though the Lord, in His mercy, has allowed both knowledge and witness to increase together. And with that, as we will discover, comes greater responsibility.
Yet this should not be taken lightly. Throughout Scripture, when God reveals truth, He does so not only in mercy but as a warning. He shows Himself so that men may repent, believe, and turn to Him. But when that truth is rejected, the same witness given in mercy becomes testimony against them.
We are not living in an age with fewer excuses. We are living in a time when we have none at all.
I do not write as one who claims to know everything, but as one who has come to see, through personal study and experience, that God is faithful to give understanding to those who truly seek Him. His truth is not hidden from the believer who approaches Scripture with faith, humility, and a genuine desire to know Him. He has promised wisdom to those who ask, and He has promised to reveal Himself to those who seek Him with all their heart.
I can say with sincerity that this has been true in my own life. The Lord has opened passages to me that I had read many times before, yet had not fully understood until I sought Him more deeply.
That is my heart's desire in writing these studies. Not merely to present information, but to encourage the same hunger in others. My hope is that what the Lord has shown me will inspire you to search the Scriptures more earnestly, to test all things by His Word, and to discover for yourself the depth, beauty, and truth of what He wants to show you.
The issue, in the end, is not merely whether one believes the Bible contains truth, but whether one is willing to receive it as truth in its entirety. Scripture does not present itself as a book from which man may pick and choose what suits him.
This is why 2 Timothy 3:16 matters so deeply: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God."
If all Scripture is God-breathed, then all Scripture must be received as true, authoritative, and trustworthy. Not only the portions that comfort us, but also those that confront us. There will be passages that are easy to believe, and there will be some that challenge our understanding, test our faith, and call us to obedience.
Every study on this site stands upon the foundation laid here. From it, we grow into a fuller understanding of God's message to us as we trust His Word and allow Him to reveal His truth.
